Discover Antananarivo and its various sides by visiting Ambohimanga sacred hills.
The hill is topped by the Rova, a fortified enclosure which encloses Andrianampoinimerina’s (1787-1810) hut; two wooden pavilions with floor where the Queens Ranavalova I and Ranavalona II came to stay; a zebu pit and royal bassins for the rulers bath. Associated with a strong sense of national identity, it retains its atmosphere of spirituality and its sacredness. Thanks to its authentic characters, the site is classified Cultural World Heritage by UNESCO.
